This app records your voice. That deserves a plain explanation rather than a wall of boilerplate, so here is exactly what is collected, who else sees it, and how to get rid of it.
What the app holds, and where
ColdSpeak has no account and no sign-up. Everything below is created on your phone and stays there unless you choose to back it up.
- Audio of your practice speeches, recorded only while a rep is running and only after you have granted microphone access.
- Transcripts and scores derived from that audio, including the delivery measurements and the written critique.
- Items you add to your bank, which are whatever you choose to type in.
- Basic usage data — when you practised and for how long — so the app can show you your own progress.
The app does not record when you are not in a rep. It has no access to your contacts, photos, location or other apps. We never see any of it: there is no server of ours for it to reach.
We hold your email address only if you gave it to us — by joining the waitlist or writing to us — and it is not linked to anything you record.
Who else processes it
To turn a recording into a marked rep, it has to leave your device. Two processors are involved, and neither is given your identity:
- Deepgram receives the audio stream and returns a transcript with word timings.
- Alibaba Cloud Model Studio, in its Singapore region, receives the transcript and the delivery measurements, and returns the critique.
We run no database and no file storage for your work, so nothing of yours is held by us to sell or share. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers.
If you switch on Google Drive backup, the app writes a copy of your reps and recordings into a private folder in your own Google Drive, using your Google account. It is not our storage and we cannot read it.
How long it is kept
For as long as you leave it on your phone. Transcripts and scores are kept because the progress charts are built from them. Audio is kept so you can play a rep back, and Settings lets you choose how long: seven days, thirty days, or until you delete it yourself.
Deleting your data
There is no ColdSpeak account, and we hold no copy of your work. Your reps, recordings, scores and bank live on your device, so deleting them is something you do in the app and not something we can do for you.
Any single rep can be deleted from the full history list, which removes its transcript, its scores and its recordings together. Settings hasDelete all recordings, which clears the audio but keeps the written record, and Delete everything, which removes every rep, every recording and your whole bank. All of it is permanent, and we cannot recover it afterwards.
If you turned on Google Drive backup, a copy also sits in your own Drive. Deleting in the app does not reach into that copy; remove it from your Google account, or disconnect Drive in Settings first. Uninstalling the app also removes everything it kept on the device.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or erase your personal data, and to object to some processing. Most of it you can exercise yourself, because the data is on your device: the app exports a full backup file and deletes anything you ask it to. For anything else, write to admin@coldspeak.comand we will respond. We will not make you jump through hoops for it.
Age
ColdSpeak is intended for adults. It is not for use by anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data. The app records voice, which we are not currently set up to handle for minors — there is no age verification or parental consent process. If someone under 18 has been using it, deleting everything in Settings or uninstalling the app removes what it holds; write to us if you need help with that.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected or who receives it, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect rather than quietly updating the date at the top.
